That pic is TOTALLY you in Bible College, Joe ! :-) Not sure how I ended up as "Jim" on here, but I guess I'll go with it. Also been watching a lot of Dan McClellen videos online lately and I find his perspective to be very refreshing.
I also like Pete Enns...The Bible for Normal People. And I promise not to be an asshole. I always wondered if a Bible story happened and only God and another person were involved but the person involved isn't the author...how does the author really know what happened? Is the entire story divinely inspired? No need for an answer just nice to put the question out there.
Love Pete! We met ages ago. His stuff is great. And, yeah...one of my early questions was when Moses wrote about Moses dying in the Deuteronomy. I was like, hold up. :) Authorship is something we will talk about eventually. Very few books were written by the traditionally ascribed authors.
Also… perhaps irrelevant, but certainly an interesting data point - I’m fairly certain Dan Mcllelan is Mormon. Unless you just can’t believe what you read on the internet these days!
Finally, a club where changing your mind doesn’t get you kicked out—it gets you promoted.
“Midwife and mentor” is honestly perfect. Most of us were handed belief systems with no epidural, no doula, and definitely no exit plan.
Deconstruction Club feels less like Fight Club and more like Don’t Fight Yourself Club. And that might just be holier than anything we left behind.
First night here. Already questioning the whole damn blueprint. I think I’m home.

Hahaha! I was like who is Jim Rice? That's pretty funny.
What imagery…. “I’m here to help you birth something new—and make sure you don’t bleed out in the process” ;)
I can't say i wasn't a little proud of that one...

He is for sure, yes. He talks about and is a prof at BYU. He is academically critical of the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible.
